MeetingsThis is a summary of the minutes from the October 17, 2004 chapter meeting: Meeting called to order at 10:05 a.m. Treasurer's Report Old Business School Supplies Halloween Party New Business State Board Meeting The state is working on the Bylaws section, so anyone who has input to share please show up at the meeting to be held the second Saturday in November (November 13). If you need more info or have questions, contact Joe at (505) 286-1513 or Patty at (505) 281-3493. Ron and Sid Wells have started a shelter for victims of domestic violence. This shelter is called The Sanctuary Zone and is open to both men and women who have been victimized. They are seeking help from anyone else who would like to volunteer some time, so if you would like to teach a class or just donate some time or money it would all be appreciated. ABATE will be contacting them for Christmas to see how we can help them out. Comcast Public Access TV Channel 27: Top was volunteer to be the emcee and he was glad he was. The first show was aired with Damon as floor director and Jack and Darren running a camera. Announcements Jack is concerned about the issue of church and state being intermingled. Some of us that live in the East Mountains must vote at the Baptist church if we wait until November 2 to vote. Jack announced that if anyone had a problem with this they may vote early at the Los Vecinos Community Center in Tijeras. If anyone has ideas on who we can go to change the polling place next election please forward the information to Jack. Make sure you get all out and vote! Sharp announced a fundraising run on November 6 to help raise money for then Freedom Camp Social Club in Rodeo, New Mexico. They are trying to start a Veteran's Home that would be supported by a bed & Breakfast that will cater to bikers. Patty has a map; you may contact her for a copy. Sharp is looking for anyone who might be interested in riding with him to please come and join him. Top resigned from the position of Co-Deputy Coordinator over some issues of what ABATE is about and what we believe in as well as the lack of participation among our membership. Joyce Casey says the Patriots have adopted some kids from Memorial Hospital and they will be taking them treats for Halloween on October 30. They will meet at the Chili Bowl on Central and San Mateo at 9 a.m. and ride to the hospital at Central and I-25. They will park in the back. The kids love seeing the bikes and they really appreciate interacting with the bikers. The meeting was adjourned at 11:05 a.m. More minutes |
