School Supply Run
Poker hands $830; raffles $320, auction $966. We agreed to take $70 from the raffle proceeds and add to the $830 for a total of $900 to school supplies. The remainder, $250, will be put back into our treasury for operating funds. The money collected from the auction will be given to Audra Iverson this Friday. Big D volunteered to store the school supplies until we can divide and deliver them to the schools. Volunteers available to deliver are Charlene, Angel, Lew, Leigh, Patty and Damon.
Halloween Party
October 29, Saturday, at Baca's house, 6 p.m. Bring non-perishable food or cash to be given to the Women's Shelter or Bethel House. Come decorate Friday evening, October 28, with happy hour at 5 p.m. Planning committee will meet prior tomap out strategy. Kat, Elizabeth, Angel, Joyce S. and Leigh have volunteered. Joyce S. will make a flyer. Any suggestions or questions call 281-5147.
Election Results
Mike had 22 votes, Damon had 13 votes. Our new Chapter Coordinator is Mike Baca. Congratulations, Mike!
Labor Day Campout at Fenton Lake
Good turnout, good food, and good friends. We voted to reimburse Mike Baca the $40 for four nights on the kitchen/group gathering spot. In lieu of being reimbursed for their first night holding sites, Lew, Bob and Angel, Mike and Damon donated their fees back to the crash fund. Barb has pictures if anyone didn't get a chance to see them.
New Business
Memorial Run, October 2
Will start at Show Stoppers and end at the Corner Pocket. ABATE of New Mexico will sponsor the run to provide memorial plaques in the Botanical Garden for both David Fisher and Garrett Iverson. The funds collected will go toward helping the Iverson family. Angel has been coordinating the information, flyer, and donations. Charlene has been involved in the mountain area. We need volunteers to help sell hands. Please contact Angel at 281-8673. We are expecting this to be a big event so we need all the help we can get.
Battle of the Bands, October 15
The Ponderosa employees would like to sponsor a benefit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina after seeing ABATE of Louisiana's request for help on the internet. They will disperse all funds to fellow ABATE members in need. A discussion of ways to raise money resulted in the decision to do a "scavenger ride." Top and Diana volunteered to map it out. Each member is encouraged to donate one handmade item for the raffle/auction. If you can't possibly make something, buy something that looks handmade. The Ponderosa has volunteered to organize the bands. Duck volunteered Kim to make a flyer. Patty will be the contact person at 281-3493.
