Meeting called to order at 10:16 a.m.

Old Business

Elections
Ballots sent out in the August minutes are due by October 14.

Crash Fund
Mike commented that there was $18 added to the crash fund which was money left after the cremation expenses for Mal Kennedy.

School Supply Run
Monies will be distributed on Friday, Sept. 15 to the 4 schools; anyone wanting to assist with the donation should meet at Route 66 School at 10am. We received a $150 donation from Sandia Casino bringing our total donations for the schools to $1350. Gov. Lawrence Gutierrez also wrote a nice letter along with their donation. $435 went into chapter funds from sales of raffle tickets. Many thanks to the Black Berets MC for manning the stops along the route and for their participation!

Fenton Lake
Great turnout! Lots of fun! No rain! Saturday night dinner provided by the chapter cost $86 and fed 30 members.

Thunderbird Harley
The membership drive at Thunderbird Harley on August 19 was a great success. The Rio Rancho chapter netted 3 new members. Another drive will be held Sept. 15, 16, and 17, during Thunderbird's Grand Opening. Anyone willing to help should contact Mike, 282-5147. A table will be set up at 9am.

NCOM
November 10 and 11 at the Nativa Lodge. ABATE will be responsible for bike security. Brummel will head up the security staff. Whoever signs up must show up for scheduled time or give 24-hour notice, or find a substitute to cover his time. Contact Mike if you want to volunteer.

New Business

Animal Shelter Run
We need to set up a committee for the Animal Shelter Run on October 1. Those interested will meet on September 19 at 6pm at Jenks in Moriarty. Cat made 150 copies of the flyer. Contact Mike, 281-8673 or Charlene 832-6332 for more information of if you need copies of the flyer. The run will begin at Los Altos Park; stops will be the Ponderosa, the Schaffer Hotel in Mountainair, the Willard Cantina, and will end at the Blue Ribbon Bar in Estancia. The proceeds will be split 60/40, thereby building money for the chapter, as well as the Animal Shelter. We need to push to make this a great run. Please help if you can.

Halloween Party
October 28 at the Baca's. It will be pot luck. We set a $40 gift allowance, and to cover the toilet expense. We will set up on Friday the 27th at 6pm (always almost as much fun as the party). We will finalize plans at the 10/8/06 ABATE meeting. We will also have a box set up for donations of clothes, household goods, etc. for the Sanctuary Zone.

Motorcycle Awareness Day
Volunteers are needed for Motorcycle Awareness Day on September 23rd at Sandia Motorsports Park. There will be vintage and class racing. Go to www.sandiaclassic.net or call 352.8888 for more information.

NMMRO
Barbara gave a short NMMRO report and gave out bumper stickers. The questionnaire sent out to legislators is attached. The new session starts 1/16. ABATE appreciates all the hard work done by NMMRO on bikers behalf. The next meeting will be on October 22 at the Uptown Sports Bar at 1pm.
