Treasurer's Report

Old Business
Patty has not done the T-shirt inventory yet.

Top has not found out about one-color printing for the Patriot's T-shirts; he found out what the problem with the printer was and they have gotten their shirts for $5.00 each with multiple colors. The artwork was donated.

Barb has not found out about the Rio Rancho Shirts.

Villa Nueva June 11 and 12, 2004
Next event is the campout at Villa Nueva. Call one of the officers for directions or if you are riding and need help getting your gear to the campground. We need to take time off for ourselves.

State Picnic: June 19-20
You may wish to arrive Friday. Joe is picking up the key at 11:30 a.m. on Friday and bringing the canopies and poles along with the grease pole. Barb will bring the whip to make sure Randy and the gang get the grease pole in the ground on Friday. Dinner will be available on Friday for a nominal charge.

We are in charge of the beer and we have always gone through the Corner Pocket in the past. We will need 5 kegs of beer for the picnic.

The state needs money for their crash fund so Bob Leech has suggested that we have a bake sale at the picnic to benefit that fund, everyone is invited and encouraged to bring baked goods to donate for the sale, Patty will be making those ever so popular motorcycle suckers. Bring lots of cash for the goodies.

Barb is currently hitting places up for donations for raffle prizes and giveaways, Joyce Casey will hit up the Accessory Pit, someone from the chapter will hit up the Ponderosa and Jack has already donated some of his custom engraved tags. Thank you all for all of your hard work and commitment.

New Business

NCOM Conference Report:
Grumpy reported that there were 1200-1500 representatives at the conference from 39 states and 50 to 79 clubs were represented. Grumpy found the conference to be very informative and he learned a lot. The main thing that people at the conference were concerned about was the Patriot Act. The State of New Mexico and the City of Albuquerque are against the Patriot Act, they are in the fight to defeat the Act so we all need to be in that fight so get out and vote to keep your freedom and your rights. A Professor from the University of California Sacramento that teaches about gang violence was a speaker and he became very enlightened with regards to the motorcycle community. Grumpy is now looking forward to attending the MRF conference in Casper, Wyoming.

Top:
Top reported that the parade at the traveling wall in Los Lunas had 52 bikes participate and all went well except for one rowdy participant….Patty. On the day with the lowest turn out there were 6000 people there.

Trip to Rolling Thunder leaves next Monday, all meeting at Jake's in Moriarty for breakfast and they will be leaving at 8:30 a.m.

Racing Team:
AMA qualifying was last week and Jake finished third out of a field of thirty. Congratulations Jacob.

Mike requested access to the ABATE banner to display at the races and also some merchandise to sell. He needs medium and small shirts, but we do not have these will have think about ordering and printing some for the team.

We need to also start gathering our aluminum cans for the kids.

Mita will turn the racing team funds over to Mike so that they can handle their own money and get the things they need such as jerseys for Santana and Kenny.

People need to go out and support our racing team during the races. There is a website you can check out to find out the dates of the races and directions to the track: www.moriartymx.com. During the 2-day events they have a barbecue and bands for all to enjoy.

Kathy Swell:
Kathy is back in the hospital and receiving IV antibiotics; she has been poked so much her veins are shot. She is currently able to get around in a wheelchair and it is going to be a long slow recovery, but she is a fighter. She has gotten a new outlook on life from this tragedy and has gained much more appreciation for the small things in life. Way to go Kathy we are all behind you and keeping you in our thoughts. If you need anything don't forget we are here for you!!!

Barbara Alvar:
New website for the NMMRO is up and running www.nmmro.org. Thank-you Yvonne. The website is easy to navigate and very professionally done. All of the bills are on the website so check them and it out!!!

Grumpy is working on the modulating headlight problem.

Two boys waited for a traffic light in Rio Rancho on their crotch rockets for 10 minutes the light would not change due to the sensors in the ground would not recognize the bikes waiting for the light. After waiting for the 10 minutes they decided to blow the light, well a cop had watched them sitting there for the 10 minutes and pulled them over and ticketed them. They are going to fight this. If this happens in Albuquerque call Mayor Marty Chavez' office, he stated on his radio program, per Diane Sandlin, that he will help you. Albuquerque is in the process of changing all of its inground sensors to magnetic sensors to help alleviate this problem. The project should be completed within 2 years.

Best of the West conference coming up on June 11-13, let Barb know if you want to go before May 20, they can help with your entrance, but you'll have to provide your own lodging and transportation. Meeting of the Minds is September 23-26. Larry is talking to everyone about ignition interlock devices for motorcycles. Apparently the consensus is it can't be done due to the liability factor, but we still need to pay attention to this issue, it could be a way for a helmet law to be initiated in New Mexico. Governor Richardson has set up a Task Force for the ignition interlock devices. We need to get into the task force’s meetings or even get someone on this task force. NMMRO is working on a questionnaire for the representatives to find out where they stand on motorcycle issues. Barbara and Tim are now new members of the East Mountain Chapter, welcome aboard!!!!

We Won!!! Isleta Casino's Renegade Rally got cancelled due to the Pueblo government declaring it a NO Colors Event!!! The sponsors and the promoters did not want this policy put on the event and pulled out when they found out about the boycott. They are still interested in running the event later this year, but our wonderful Liz Espinoza is helping to plan the event so we know that there will be no discrimination allowed. It is possible that it will be held at Balloon Fiesta Park. Goes to prove if we all pull together on something we can bring about change.

Patriot Act:
The state of New Mexico is against the Patriot Act, but what is wrong with our Representatives in Washington? Heather and Pete are not fighting it they are actually in favor of it, whose rear are they kissing?

Several people have been contacted by Route 66 Motorsports, Inc (a not for profit group). They would like to get us to work with them in putting together Motorcycle events, such as races and rodeos. They are talking about putting together a run to Angel Fire.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 a.m.
