Old Business

Highway clean-up will be postponed until next month. The people who forgot to donate and bring their stuff to the meeting for Boomer may now drop their items off at Safety Flare. You may contact Barb, Miss Kitty, or Rhonda at 884-2274 for directions. Boomer should be home in the middle of June. The Black Berets will be doing something special to welcome him home. REMINDER—the Ride for Kids is two weeks from today. The Blessing of the Bikes is April 27th. Miss Kitty (Kathleen) is trying to get food and other donations so that it will be less cost to us and more money made for our chapter. Cheri talked with the manager at Coffee at Dawn's and said that they are open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Miss Kitty and Cheri will be meeting there at 9 a.m. to hand out information about our chapter and information on awareness. The date on that is June 14th the day before Father's Day. Barb has done some changes to our membership forms because of price changes and they now list all chapter groups. No other old business at this time.

New Business

A moment of silence was taken for Larry August. Our hearts and prayers go out to CJ in her time of need. The viewing for Larry August is Tuesday April 8th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Riverside Funeral Home - 418 W. Reinken Ave. Belen, NM. His Memorial Service is Sunday April 13th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 306 Rio Communities in Belen, NM. Larry's last ride and Ashes to the Wind to follow.

Big D would like to start making a pledge to the Flag and so we started it today. If someone has a flag that they could bring to the meetings that would be great.

There will be a Dice Run to benefit the VFW Post 6216 on April 12th. It starts at 11 a.m. and last bike out is at Noon. It is about a 75 mile ride. The address on that is VFW Post 6216 on Bridge East of Old Coors. $10 for single and $15 for couples. It is sponsored by the Black Berets Motorcycle Club. Prizes for the highest roll, door prizes, and beverages.

Flyers are made to be passed out for the State ABATE Picnic. If you would like some to pass out you may contact Miss Kitty at 884-2274 or 459-0990. We ask that you please ask for donations when handing out the flyers. Tom has offered to hand some out to Motorcycle Wild, Cat will do R&S Kawasaki, and Cheri will be covering North 14. Barb or Charlene is collecting the donations. NCOM will pay up to $250.00 worth for any flyers made. Barb will need the original receipt for the flyers in order to get reimbursed.

Miss Kitty and Rhonda will be setting up a booth at the State Picnic to help raise money for our chapter. They will be selling leather and blue jean vest with patches already sewn on to them as well as goggles and safety glasses. A motion was made on this and passed. Carly Keel is selling raffle tickets to benefit the Sanctuary Zone. The cost on those is $1.00 per ticket. If you would like to purchase them you may contact Carly at 286-3903.

It was brought up at the meeting that we as a group would like an alternative for those of us who are not members of the Christians Motorcycle Association. It has been decided that we would like Mita's mom Buzzy to bless our bikes. We are trying not to isolate anyone from this event and we feel this will be our best option in doing so.

NCOM Report
The NCOM Convention is in Houston in the month of May from the 9th to the 11th. The BOD Meeting is in November. TBA.

Barb and Big D gave a report about the COC Meeting. For further details you may contact them.

ATTENTION TRAVELERS: A club that attend the COC Meeting has brought to light that if you are traveling through Texas and not wearing a helmet they can and will pull you over. They will ask you for your insurance papers and you MUST have at least $10,000 worth of insurance coverage. If you do not they will give you a ticket and you must return to Texas to take care of this situation. So either wear a helmet when traveling through the big state or your insurance card. Happy trails!!!

The State Board Meeting will be next weekend in Gallup.

Announcements

As some of you already know one of our brothers has fallen. Paul Souther of Motorcycle Wild was involved in a hit and run. It happened Sunday evening on Menual and University around 10 p.m. He was the brother of Tom Souther, who is a member of our chapter and who also does our myspace page. He will be greatly missed by all.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:25 a.m.
