This is a summary of the minutes from the February 3, 2008 chapter meeting:

Treasurer's Report

Old Business

I'm sure that as some of you have realized our membership rate is falling. If everyone could take a moment to check their cards and their expiration dates. If you see that yours has expired please take a few moments to renew your membership. You may contact me @ caelaljf@yahoo.com, or Cat @ 286-2873. The attendance at meetings has severely dropped. Big D feels that if it is his presence at the meetings to please tell him or one of the other officers and he will step down. The most important thing is that we keep up attendance so that we can continue our fight to help everyone ride free. Big D also noted that once members have become officers and their terms are over they no longer attend the meetings. We really hate to see this happen. We really would like to see some of our members start coming to the meetings, if not every month then hopefully every other month. Just because you sign up doesn't make you an active member! We need YOUR attendance at these meetings because we have the same handful of people coming to the meetings that are fighting for the right of all the 1,000's of people that are riding. If anyone knows how to increase our membership please speak up and help us out. We are talking of having a membership drive sometime in the spring to try and raise our members. At least if our memberships don't go up we are still getting information out to people that we are here and fighting for their rights. PLEASE PARTICIPATE!!!!!

I will now be sending out notices before the next meetings or functions just in case people forget.

At the State Board Meeting membership fees were discussed and it has been brought to my attention that the fees have gone up to State $15.00 for single and $25.00 for couples. You will receive a state pin and patch with your renewal. This is the first price increase in over 20 years. State is not making any money off of this until all the pins and patches have gone out. As of right now there are only about 50 pins and patches left. The price may rise one more time within the next year by another $5.00 and then that money will be kept in the chapter. ABATE memberships are going up to $20.00 for single and $35.00 for couples.

New Business

The State ABATE Picnic -
The gates will open on June 27th for members - TBA. On June 28th the gates open @ 11:00 a.m. for all future members. Dave Covert is in charge of security this year and it will be provided for those who want to stay overnight. Remember to bring something warm for at night because last year it got chilly!! We are waiting on a verbal approval from Patty before the flyer goes out, which we already have so I will be sending a flyer with the minutes as well as a revised 2008 agenda. The location of the picnic will be at the Bar S Diamond Arena. Damon has been asked to do the kids' games this year. I'm sure all the kids are looking forward to the greased flag pole!!! Big D has taken care of the sponsors for the plaques; we have Jim's Route 66 Muffler and the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant. Momma Mita's will be there and everyone is glad that they are coming back!!! If anyone knows of someone wanting to do a BBQ stand please contact me @ caelaljf@yahoo.com or 286-2873. They will need a health permit from Bernalillo County and it needs to be done 3 months in advance. We also need water and soda donations. The water we got last year was really, really bad!!! So if someone would like to donate a case here or there please let me know and I will come and pick it up. We will be raffling off a chance for a Leather Jacket (value $350), Riding Boots (value $125), and a gift certificate from Thunderbird (value $100); the raffle tickets are available for sale now please contact Barbara if you want tickets. The tickets are going for $5.00. Bands are being booked. Full Moon has been booked and will play from 6 - 10 Gate fees will be $10.00 kids under 12 are free.
